Dubai's Sikka Art Festival Celebrates Record Attendance With Global Art Showcase

The 12th edition of the Sikka Art and Design Festival in Dubai marked a significant milestone, drawing an unprecedented crowd of over 162,000 visitors. This event, celebrated under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, has significantly contributed to the cultural and artistic vibrancy of the emirate. Spanning 10 days, the festival showcased a diverse array of artworks, performances, workshops, and discussion sessions.

Featuring the contributions of more than 500 artists from the UAE, GCC, and beyond, the festival displayed around 300 artworks across 14 houses. Additionally, eight murals and ten installations were strategically placed to capture Dubai's rich culture and heritage while aligning with the city's Public Art strategy. The 'Sikka Talks' corner was a hub for engaging discussions with leading creatives, complemented by musical performances from over 70 musicians.

Sikka Art Festival Hits Record Visitors

An impressive lineup of approximately 290 workshops attracted upwards of 5,000 participants. These sessions were led by experts representing various institutions, offering attendees a chance to delve into diverse artistic disciplines. A new addition this year was the 'Culinary House', which highlighted the global influence of culinary art through 35 F&B concepts, nine supper clubs, and 16 cooking workshops.

Moreover, the festival served as a platform for over 50 Emirati and UAE-based designers to present their work. These designs drew inspiration from local heritage, transforming traditional proverbs into printed artworks and products influenced by henna designs. Other highlights included an innovative series that merged Kufic script with traditional architecture and contemporary designs inspired by historical doors and maritime culture.

The Sikka Art and Design Festival not only aimed to enrich Dubai's cultural scene but also sought to support and promote the city's cultural and creative industries. By providing a stage for both established and emerging artists, the festival played a pivotal role in showcasing the dynamic artistic talent within the UAE and beyond.
