The Sharjah Institute for Heritage has stepped up efforts to deepen Arab cultural partnerships through translation and publishing. As part of this strategy, a delegation visited Egypt to discuss new projects. The move aims to support knowledge exchange, protect heritage, and widen access to world cultures for readers across the Arab region.

The delegation from the Sharjah Institute for Heritage paid an official visit to Egypt’s National Centre for Translation, located in the New Administrative Capital and affiliated with the Ministry of Culture. The group was led by Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Institute, and was welcomed by Dr. Rasha Saleh, Head of the National Centre for Translation.

SIH and Egypt Translate Partnership

During the meeting, both parties explored future cooperation in translation and publishing, with a focus on heritage-related content. Discussions centred on joint projects that could translate world heritage works into Arabic. The aim is to make key global texts more accessible to Arab readers while also presenting Emirati and Arab heritage to wider audiences.

At the start of the talks, Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam outlined the Institute’s mission and wide-ranging roles in specialised publishing and the book industry. Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam highlighted the Institute’s extensive knowledge output and high-quality titles, which support Emirati and Arab cultural heritage and open structured channels to global heritage in its many forms.

Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam reaffirmed Sharjah’s commitment to close cultural ties with Egyptian institutions, especially in heritage. This approach reflects a belief that knowledge partnerships help safeguard heritage and pass it to future generations. Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam also praised earlier cooperation that produced joint publications and expressed hope for more diverse projects. The visit ended with an exchange of publications, confirming the strength and continuity of collaboration.
