Shura Council Conducts Second Session Approving Multiple International Agreements

The Shura Council held its second regular session of the first year of the ninth term, led by Speaker Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh. During the session, Al Al-Sheikh expressed deep appreciation to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their unwavering support to the council. He emphasized that this backing is crucial for the council's effectiveness in executing its duties.

The council proceeded to examine its agenda, making decisions on various items. Several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and agreements with different countries were approved across multiple sectors. These agreements aim to enhance cooperation and development in key areas.

Shura Council Approves Key International MoUs

Among the approved MoUs was one between Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and those of Rwanda, San Martino, and Estonia. This agreement focuses on political consultations, aiming to strengthen diplomatic ties and mutual understanding among these nations.

Another significant MoU was sanctioned between Saudi Arabia's Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) and China's Independent Commission Against Corruption. This partnership is dedicated to preventing and combating corruption through shared strategies and experiences.

The council also approved an MoU between Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services and Romania's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. This agreement seeks to foster collaboration in the logistics sector, enhancing efficiency and connectivity between the two countries.

An agreement concerning air transport services was also ratified between Saudi Arabia and Mozambique. This pact aims to improve air travel connectivity, facilitating easier movement of people and goods between the two nations.

Advancements in Intellectual Property

In matters related to intellectual property, an MoU was approved between the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property and the World Intellectual Property Organization. This agreement establishes a trust fund for developmental projects in intellectual property, promoting innovation and protection of creative works.

The foundational system for the International Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Ethics (ICAIRE) was also approved. This initiative focuses on cultural and intellectual affairs related to artificial intelligence, ensuring ethical standards are maintained in AI research.

The session highlighted Saudi Arabia's commitment to strengthening international relations through strategic partnerships. These agreements reflect a focus on enhancing cooperation in diplomacy, anti-corruption efforts, logistics, air transport, intellectual property, and artificial intelligence ethics.
