Sheikha Bint Saif Al Nahyan Emphasises Importance Of Blood Donors In Thalassemia And Health Initiatives

For the fifth consecutive year, Bristol Myers Squibb has reaffirmed its dedication to patient care and community welfare through a significant blood donation drive. This initiative, in collaboration with the Emirates Thalassemia Society and Dubai Science Park, aligns with Blood Cancer Awareness Month. It highlights the critical importance of blood donations for both recipients and donors.

Sheikha Sheikha Bint Saif Al Nahyan, Chairperson of the Emirates Thalassemia Society, expressed gratitude towards Bristol Myers Squibb for organising this event during their Global Patient Week. "Blood donors play a fundamental role in the fight against thalassemia and other blood disorders," she said. Their contributions not only save lives but also offer hope to families dealing with these conditions.

Blood Donors Vital in Thalassemia Fight

The Emirates Thalassemia Society aims to enhance the lives of those affected by thalassemia through awareness and support. The partnership with Bristol Myers Squibb strengthens this mission, showcasing how community involvement is vital in healthcare initiatives.

Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi, Senior Vice President of Dubai Science Park, emphasised that blood donation saves lives, supports research, and fosters social unity. "Home to more than 500 science leaders and 6,500 professionals," he noted, "Dubai Science Park’s community is uniquely placed to collaboratively nurture R&D." Their participation in this drive underscores their commitment to health-enhancing community initiatives.

Dubai Science Park's involvement reflects its support for initiatives that align with Dubai's strategic goals like the Economic Agenda ‘D33’ and Quality of Life Strategy 2033. These efforts aim to encourage active social contributions that benefit public health and well-being.

Commitment to Patient Care

Osama Braiwish, General Manager of Bristol Myers Squibb for KSA and Gulf Countries, highlighted the campaign’s success. He stated, "As we proudly mark the fifth edition of our ‘Help Save a Life’ blood donation drive, we’re reminded that every donation secured is a direct lifeline for patients in critical need." This initiative is central to their Global Patient Week activities.

The success of this campaign illustrates the power of collective action. The collaboration between Bristol Myers Squibb, Emirates Thalassemia Society, and Dubai Science Park positively impacts individuals living with thalassemia and other blood disorders in the UAE.

Bristol Myers Squibb's annual Global Patient Week focuses on strengthening connections with patients while exploring meaningful ways to give back to communities. The 'Help Save a Life' drive is a key component of these efforts.
