Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Gears Up For Ramadan With Comprehensive Preparations
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre (SZGMC) has finalized its arrangements to welcome a significant number of worshippers and visitors during the Holy Month of Ramadan 1445. Reflecting on the previous year, Ramadan 1444 saw an impressive turnout with 684,945 individuals visiting the mosque, including over 60,000 worshippers congregating on the 27th night of Ramadan to observe Laylat Al Qadr, a night of great significance in Islam.
To accommodate the expected influx, the SZGMC has established various committees and teams dedicated to ensuring seamless and comprehensive services are available round-the-clock. This initiative is supported through strategic collaborations with both government and private sectors, aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency during this peak period.

In a bid to elevate the service quality for its visitors and to promote volunteerism as a core social value, the SZGMC has mobilized over 580 qualified volunteers. These volunteers, in conjunction with the Centre's staff, Emirates Red Crescent, Absher Ya Watan volunteer team, police officers, paramedics, and Civil Defense personnel, are committed to providing an environment conducive for worshippers to perform their prayers with tranquility and ease.
To further facilitate access for worshippers, the Centre has introduced more than 70 electric cars designated for transporting individuals from parking areas to prayer halls. This service prioritizes the elderly and people of determination. Additionally, SZGMC has expanded its parking facilities to accommodate 8,379 vehicles, including special allocations for women and people of determination, with an increase of 1,800 parking spaces from the previous year. For those requiring assistance, over 3,515 chairs and 50 wheelchairs have been made available.
Embracing UAE's rich cultural heritage, SZGMC has collaborated with the Ministry of Defence to continue the tradition of firing a cannon at the commencement of Ramadan as well as daily throughout the month to signal Iftar time. This act not only marks the beginning of Eid Al Fitr but also allows people from diverse cultures to witness this historic practice live on Abu Dhabi Media TV channels.
This comprehensive preparation by SZGMC underscores its commitment to ensuring that worshippers and visitors experience a serene and spiritually fulfilling Ramadan. Through these efforts, SZGMC aims to foster a sense of community and cultural appreciation among UAE citizens and residents alike.
