Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Achieves Global Recognition In Cultural And Historical Significance
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque has once again garnered international acclaim. According to TripAdvisor's 2024 report, the mosque ranks among the top cultural and historical landmarks worldwide. This recognition is based on over 8 million data points from travellers of various nationalities, highlighting the mosque's universal appeal and rich visitor experiences.
The mosque achieved an impressive 10th place globally and first in the Middle East in the 'Top Attractions' category. This distinction among 25 world-class attractions underscores its universal appeal. In the 'Top Experiences' category, it secured the 17th spot globally and second in the Middle East for the travel experience from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, which includes Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Qasr Al Watan, and Etihad Towers.

In the 'Cultural and Historical Experiences' category, it ranked third globally, showing significant progress compared to 2023. The mosque improved by five ranks in attractions, three in experiences, and four in cultural and historical experiences.
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre operates under a strategic five-year plan, utilising a comprehensive system facilitated by specialised teams. These teams are dedicated to delivering exceptional experiences for visitors from diverse global cultures. The Centre continues to evolve, expanding facilities and diversifying services offered to visitors.
Dr Yousif Alobaidli, Director-General of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre, stated, "The Mosque's realisation of this global milestone reflects the vision of our leadership. This accomplishment is the fruit of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre's five-year strategic plan to enhance its services and offer visitors new experiences."
Cultural Tours and Unique Experiences
The Centre offers a variety of unique experiences such as "Hidden Glimpses" tours conducted in specially equipped electric vehicles. These tours take families and groups on immersive cultural journeys revealing intricate details of the Mosque. Additionally, 'Sura' night cultural tours provide a unique nighttime experience from 22:00 to 09:00.
These tours accommodate visitors during transit flight layovers or those exploring Abu Dhabi at unconventional hours. They allow visitors to witness aspects of the Mosque rarely seen by the public, including routine maintenance and exceptional cleaning operations conducted during tour hours.
Visitor Center Facilities
The Visitor Center features exhibition halls, an auditorium, and a library creating a unique environment for visitors. The Souq Al Jami complements this setting with shops, entertainment areas, and restaurants catering to different age groups. A jogging track offers community members from various backgrounds an opportunity to engage in sports activities against the mosque’s spectacular backdrop.
Training Programs and Community Engagement
The Centre's success is also attributed to training over 250 young nationals in cultural tour guidance and visitor services through programs like 'Ibn Al Dar.' These individuals deliver more than 5,000 cultural tours annually within the Mosque's precincts serving over 7 million worshippers and visitors from diverse cultures around the world.

The ‘El-Delleel’ service offers multimedia virtual cultural tours in 14 international languages making the Mosque accessible 24 hours a day. Such services enrich visitors' understanding of one of the most prominent religious, national, and culturally renowned landmarks globally.
