Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre's Jusoor Programme Fosters Global Harmony

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre (SZGMC) recently concluded the fourth edition of its "Jusoor" (Bridges) programme, held during the holy month of Ramadan. This initiative is a cornerstone of the Centre's mission to enhance cross-cultural communication and encourage volunteerism. It aims to diminish the barriers between different religions and cultures, fostering a sense of harmony and understanding. The programme welcomed individuals from diverse backgrounds, including various cultures, ethnicities, and beliefs, alongside representatives from both public and private sectors in the UAE.

Participants had the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the spirit of Ramadan through engaging in the Centre's annual Our Fasting Guests programme. They experienced firsthand the mosque's events and activities tailored for the holy month. Volunteering to distribute Iftar meals within the mosque premises, witnessing the traditional firing of the Iftar cannon, and participating in cultural activities were among the highlights. The programme culminated in a communal Iftar, symbolizing coexistence and brotherhood among attendees.

Dr. Yousef Al Obaidli, Director-General of the SZGMC, shared his insights on the programme's impact: "The gatherings organised and supervised by the Centre provide opportunities for cultural and human interaction that goes beyond coexistence to positive interaction, especially in the United Arab Emirates. This nation is a melting pot of different religions and cultures living together in peace, within a harmonious social fabric under ideal conditions of justice and equality." He further emphasized that the Centre's efforts are inspired by the late founding father Sheikh Zayed's vision of fostering human communication within a framework of noble values, aiming to be a beacon of peace, harmony, and respect worldwide.

The fourth season of Jusoor saw significant participation, with nine sessions organized throughout Ramadan. The initiative brought together more than 394 participants representing 13 embassies in the United Arab Emirates, along with numerous organizations and institutions. Together, they distributed over 1,750 Iftar meals at the mosque, contributing to a sense of community and shared purpose.

This year's Jusoor programme not only continued its tradition of bridging cultural divides but also significantly contributed to promoting understanding and cooperation among diverse groups in the UAE. Through such initiatives, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre reaffirms its commitment to fostering an inclusive society that values diversity and encourages positive interactions among its members.
