Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre Hosts Delegation From Abu Dhabi Accueil To Promote Cultural Exchange
Dr Yousif Al Obaidli, Director-General of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre, recently met with a delegation from Abu Dhabi Accueil. This meeting was part of the "Jusoor" programme, which aims to promote intercultural dialogue and strengthen cultural ties. The programme invites individuals and institutions to engage in various activities at the mosque, reflecting the UAE's commitment to humanitarian values and Emirati heritage.
The mosque is a significant landmark for French visitors in the UAE. Since its opening, it has welcomed around 1,820,000 French tourists and residents. Notable visitors include France’s First Lady Brigitte Macron and former French President François Hollande. In 2024 alone, the mosque hosted 124,691 visitors.

During their visit, delegation members explored the "Light & Peace Museum," which showcases exhibits symbolising coexistence and intercultural dialogue. They learned about Islamic civilisation's rich legacy in art and science and its enduring values of tolerance. This museum highlights how these values have influenced global cultural exchanges.
The delegation also experienced "Diya – A Universe of Light," an immersive multimedia presentation that guides visitors through a sensory journey from the cosmos to UAE landscapes. This interactive experience uses sound and sensory effects to enhance understanding of Islamic culture.
The group toured the mosque’s halls and external arcades, appreciating its civilisational message promoting coexistence and openness. They admired the aesthetic magnificence of Islamic architecture throughout its spaces. The mosque's design embodies a harmonious blend of diverse cultures into a single masterpiece.
Al Obaidli emphasised that when Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan decided to build the mosque, he envisioned it as a meeting place for diverse cultures worldwide. Its construction incorporated elements from across the globe, ensuring every visitor finds a connection to their own culture or region.
Global Engagement
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre actively participates in international events, including those organised by France. The meeting took place at the Peace Dome within the mosque complex. It highlighted how this iconic landmark serves as a bridge between cultures, enhancing mutual understanding among diverse communities visiting or residing in Abu Dhabi.
