H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs and Chairman of the Emirates Council for Rural Development, recently oversaw the signing of a significant agreement valued at AED73.5 million. This pact, established between the Emirates Council for Rural Development and Mubadala, is designed to fund various projects and programmes aimed at enhancing the quality of life throughout the UAE.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mubadala marks a continuation of efforts by the council to engage with strategic partners. This collaboration is part of the broader initiative of the private sector's contribution to the Emirates Villages programme. It seeks to foster integration and collaboration between government and private sectors for the benefit of Emirati society.
Mohammed Khalifa Bakhit Al Kaabi, Secretary General of the Emirates Council for Rural Development, and Homaid Abdulla Al Shimmari, Mubadala’s Deputy CEO and Chief Corporate and Human Capital Officer, were the signatories of the MoU. Al Kaabi highlighted that this strategy underlines the leadership's commitment to sustainable development in UAE villages and regions, aiming for societal wellbeing and decent living standards.
Al Kaabi emphasized the role of private sector partnerships in achieving economic development across the country, particularly in Emirati villages. He pointed out that such collaborations are crucial for promoting awareness about the historical and archaeological importance of these areas as integral parts of UAE's heritage.
Al Shimmari expressed Mubadala's dedication to making a positive impact on the community through this strategic partnership. He stressed Mubadala's commitment to social responsibility and its focus on initiatives that improve life quality across the country.
The agreement outlines cooperation in various fields and strengthens the strategic partnership between both parties, aiming to support development projects that boost economic growth and ensure a decent life for citizens and residents. A joint committee will be established to monitor progress and explore opportunities to further these goals.
The Emirates Villages project, spearheaded by the council as its first initiative, focuses on sustainable projects, enhancing aesthetic appeal, raising awareness of historical significance, supporting small and medium enterprises within communities, and promoting domestic tourism through media campaigns highlighting key landmarks in each village.
