Sheikh Theyab Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Champions Medeem Initiative For Emirati Family Wellbeing
The Department of Community Development (DCD) recently unveiled the Medeem initiative, a comprehensive program designed to bolster the foundations of marriage among UAE Nationals. Launched in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Medeem is tailored to promote Emirati values and support citizens in planning cost-effective weddings and laying the groundwork for a prosperous married life. This initiative aligns with the Abu Dhabi Family Wellbeing Strategy's objectives to foster happy, healthy families that enhance societal cohesion.
Medeem is specifically crafted for Abu Dhabi's citizens, aiming to ensure that marriages are established on robust foundations. The initiative encompasses four primary components: the Medeem Center for Family Flourishing, the Medeem Benefits Program, the Medeem Digital Platform, and the innovative Medeem Wedding Model for Women's Weddings. Each pillar is designed to support couples from the pre-wedding phase through to their journey in building a family.
The Medeem Center for Family Flourishing stands out by offering essential services and programs for engaged couples and new families. These services include family guidance, mediation, and post-divorce counseling, all delivered by professionals skilled in marital relations, family, and psychological counseling. The center aims to guide couples through the complexities of marriage preparation, focusing on psychological, social, and financial readiness.
Additionally, the Medeem Benefits Program provides exclusive discounts and special offers for those on the brink of matrimony. Meanwhile, the Medeem Digital Platform serves as a resource hub, offering educational materials for young couples eager to establish a solid marital foundation and nurture children who will positively contribute to society.
The Medeem Wedding Model introduces a reimagined approach to women's weddings. Developed in collaboration with various public and private partners, this model encourages families to celebrate together over several days. This not only alleviates financial burdens but also promotes environmental sustainability by reducing waste.
Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of DCD, highlighted the initiative's alignment with the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the efforts of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak towards supporting youth, enhancing family stability, and preserving Emirati culture. The Medeem initiative embodies these principles by offering practical support to UAE Nationals in their journey towards building strong families that contribute significantly to a cohesive society.
In essence, Medeem is more than just an initiative; it's a comprehensive framework aimed at nurturing stable families through education, support, and cultural preservation. By focusing on these areas, Medeem aspires to create a healthier family environment that ensures care, proper upbringing of children, and ultimately contributes to societal stability and prosperity.
