Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Marks The Conclusion Of Sir Bu Nair Festival's 24th Edition

H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, attended the closing ceremony of the Sir Bu Nair Festival 24 on Saturday evening. The festival, held on Friday and Saturday, saw significant participation from government and community representatives, in collaboration with the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah (EPAA).

During his visit to the festival's supplementary exhibition, Sheikh Sultan acknowledged the event's major accomplishments and praised the contributions of participating organisations in maritime and environmental protection. The exhibition showcased maritime history, biodiversity, and conservation initiatives.

The Deputy Ruler of Sharjah expressed his appreciation for the various events and activities, including exhibitions of marine heritage, Jet Ski performances, and discussions on Sir Bu Nair Island's significance. He extended his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the festival, including attendees, sponsors, and volunteers.

Representatives from several government institutions in Sharjah attended the festival. These included the Sharjah Police General Command, Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, Sharjah Government Media Bureau, Sharjah Sports Council, Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, and the General Directorate of Civil Defence.

Support and sponsorship were provided by various government and private entities to ensure the festival's high standards. Key supporters included the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, Sharjah Coop, Sharjah Driving Institute, and Zulal Water.

The first day of the festival featured numerous activities focused on sports and tourism. Events included a volleyball match, tug-of-war, kayaking, an obstacle course marathon, and a marathon race. Two guided excursions to Sir Bu Nair Island Reserve highlighted its biodiversity and ecological significance; one trip was an evening excursion to view sea turtle hatching.

Day Two Highlights

On the second day, attendees enjoyed a fishing contest, a jet ski show, a guest speaker discussing marine legacy, and a theatrical production about maritime heritage. Water sports such as kayaking were available throughout the two-day event. Additionally, there was an e-games league and environmental cultural contests.

Food carts stationed around the island catered to athletes, spectators, and tourists. The closing ceremony was attended by Hana Saif Al Suwaidi (Chairperson of EPAA), Khalid Jassim Al Midfa (Chairman of SCTDA), Mohammed Hassan Khalaf (Director General of SBA), Tariq Saeed Allay (Director-General of SGMB), Hassan Yacoub Al Mansouri (Secretary-General of Sharjah Media Council), along with other senior officials and representatives from participating government agencies.
