Discover Kalba's Heritage: Sharjah Ruler Launches New Museum And Eco-Tourism Programme
His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has introduced several new initiatives in Kalba. These projects aim to enhance the city's cultural and environmental appeal.
Among the unveiled projects is the "Kalba Gate" — a pathway linking the hanging gardens to Al Hefaiyah Lake. This walkway features a railing for safety, offering visitors panoramic views of the gardens, lake, and the city below.

Al Hefaiyah Lake has a capacity of 155 million gallons and a depth of up to four metres. A 3.17-kilometer dual-lane road surrounds the lake, allowing tourists to stroll and take in the scenery. The lake has a 3.2-kilometre-long water conduit that brings water from the lowlands and surrounding mountains into it and drains precipitation.
The new developments in Kalba are set to transform it into a hub for cultural and environmental tourism. With these projects, Kalba aims to offer a unique experience that blends history with nature.
The focus on sustainability ensures that these developments will benefit future generations while protecting Kalba's natural beauty and historical significance.
New Museum and Park
A new museum dedicated to preserving Kalba's heritage is also part of the projects. This museum will display artifacts related to local customs, traditions, and folk music.
Additionally, a park will be established around the Khor Kalba Fort, which was damaged by floods. This park aims to restore and protect the fort while providing a recreational space for residents and visitors.
These initiatives reflect a broader effort to promote Kalba as a destination for cultural and eco-tourism. By enhancing its infrastructure and preserving its heritage, Kalba aims to attract more visitors while maintaining its unique character.

In April, His Highness announced a new camping project near Al Hefaiyah Lake in Kalba City, which will include around 800 campsites, parking spaces, restrooms, drinkable water, and BBQ places. His Highness indicated that work is underway to develop the centre area, with projects scheduled to begin on April 25.
Environmental and Heritage Tourism Programme
Dr. Sheikh Sultan also announced an environmental, archaeological, and heritage tourism programme for Kalba. This initiative leverages the city's unique natural and historical attributes to attract tourists.
The programme aims to highlight Kalba's rich heritage through various activities and attractions. It will include guided tours that showcase the city's customs, traditions, and folk songs.
