Dubai's Sheikh Mohammed Explores Himalaya Wellness Research Centre, Emphasizes R&D
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, recently toured the advanced global research centre of Himalaya Wellness located in Dubai Science Park, a TECOM Group member. During this visit, His Highness highlighted the importance of research and development (R&D) as a crucial sector for the UAE’s sustainable growth and innovation goals.
His Highness stated, "Research and development (R&D) is a vital sector that is a cornerstone of the UAE’s sustainable development and a key contributor to realising our vision for innovation and future-readiness. We are committed to providing the infrastructure, environment and business-enabling support needed to ensure the growth of this sector. By fostering partnerships between the private and public sectors, nurturing talent and promoting a culture of knowledge-based excellence, we aim to create a thriving R&D ecosystem that will enable the nation to remain at the forefront of scientific and technological advancement."
The Himalaya research centre focuses on creating natural pharmaceutical products, herbal-based medicines, and dietary supplements. The 55,000-square-foot facility develops various products for export to over 100 countries. This centre supports Dubai's Research and Development Programme and showcases strong private sector involvement in healthcare and wellness.
Founded in 1930, Himalaya Wellness is a prominent global brand in herbal health and personal care. The company offers nearly 500 products worldwide. Its global research centre has significantly contributed to TECOM Group's science-focused ecosystem.
Dubai Science Park is part of TECOM Group’s extensive portfolio of business districts. These include Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City, Dubai Studio City, Dubai Production City, Dubai Knowledge Park, Dubai Design District, and Dubai Industrial City. These districts collectively enhance Dubai's position as a hub for innovation.
During his visit, His Highness was accompanied by Malek Al Malek, Director-General of the Dubai Development Authority and Chairman of the TECOM Group. They were briefed on the centre’s activities aimed at advancing natural product innovations.
