Sheikh Mohammed Visits Zayed International Airport In Abu Dhabi

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, paid a significant visit to the Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, highlighting the UAE's ambition to reinforce its position as a critical hub for international travel. This visit underscores the country's commitment to enhancing its global stature, particularly in the travel and tourism sectors, through sustained development and strategic advantages.

During his visit, His Highness praised the UAE's efforts in building a robust infrastructure and a professional team dedicated to ensuring smooth operations at one of the world's largest airports. The Zayed International Airport, which has a sprawling area of 742,000 square metres, can accommodate up to 45 million passengers annually. This capacity is a testament to the UAE's vision to lead in the global aviation sector.

Strategic Visit to Zayed Airport

Sheikh Mohammed's tour included an inspection of the airport's advanced facilities, including the Etihad Airways' First-Class Lounge and Terminal A. Terminal A, renowned for its sustainability and state-of-the-art design, can handle 79 planes simultaneously and manage 11,000 passengers per hour, thereby playing a crucial role in reinforcing Abu Dhabi's position as a premier aviation hub.

The renaming of the airport in honor of the UAE's Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed, was highlighted as a tribute to his vision that greatly elevated the UAE's competitiveness and stature worldwide. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid stressed the importance of continuous efforts to elevate the UAE's international profile and further its development model that prioritizes human welfare and happiness.

Accompanying him were several dignitaries, including Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the UAE; Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group; Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Ports and Borders Security Council; and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Advisor of Special Affairs at the Presidential Court and Board Chairman of Abu Dhabi Airports, among other senior officials.
