Sheikh Mohammed Approves Dh30 Billion Rainwater Drainage Project In Dubai
The Dubai government has approved a comprehensive project to develop Dubai's rainwater drainage network at a cost of Dh30 billion, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, announced on X on Monday.
This initiative, the largest of its kind in the region, will increase the emirate's rainwater drainage capacity by 700% and improve its preparedness for future climate challenges.
Sheikh Mohammed said that the ambitious project, set to serve Dubai for the next century, will cover all areas of the emirate and have the capacity to absorb over 20 million cubic meters of water daily. The implementation process will commence immediately and be carried out in stages, with completion expected by 2033.
