Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Agricultural Excellence Award Recognises 55 Winners For Sustainable Farming Innovations

The Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Agricultural Excellence Award recently celebrated its third edition, honouring 55 winners under the theme "Innovative Farmers and Breeders with a Sustainable Vision." The event, held at Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, was attended by prominent figures including Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, and other senior officials.

Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak praised the leadership's dedication to agriculture and sustainability. She highlighted Sheikh Mansour’s support for the award, which motivates farmers and breeders to innovate. "Today, we celebrate winners whose dedication to best agricultural practices and advanced technologies embodies this award’s vision," she stated.

The award recognised excellence in various categories. Faisal Salem Al Nuaimi won first place for the best open agriculture farm. In the greenhouse category, Saeed Meher Al Ketbi secured top honours. Mohammed Shaml Al Mamari led in fruit production, while Sultan Saeed Al Shamsi excelled in organic farming.

In livestock breeding, Raya Salem Ali Al Lamki took first place for productive animal farms. Fish Farm LLC was named the best small-scale producer. Mohammed Hadef Mohammed Al Nuaimi emerged as the top beekeeper, while Gulf Aqua Culture led in aquaculture.

Mouza Suhail Al Muhairi noted that the award has become a key platform for agricultural innovation. The third edition attracted 451 participants across four main categories and 13 subcategories. "This year’s submissions were of exceptional quality," she remarked, highlighting rigorous assessments to ensure fairness.

The award aligns with national strategies like the UAE’s National Food Security Strategy 2051 and Net Zero 2050 goals. It emphasises innovation, youth engagement, and sustainable practices such as water conservation and carbon emission reduction.

Recognising Female Contributions

Qamasha Saeed Al Mazrouei was honoured as the outstanding female farmer. Salma Salman Al Hinai led in the outstanding female breeder category. These recognitions underscore women's vital role in advancing agriculture within the region.

The award also acknowledged partners like the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and Abu Dhabi Media Network for their contributions to promoting sustainable agricultural practices.

Since its inception, the award has honoured 107 winners across its first two editions with prizes totalling AED16.7 million. This initiative continues to inspire innovation in plant and livestock agriculture while enhancing sector competitiveness.

The committee remains committed to sharing success stories of winners to advance sustainable agricultural practices locally and regionally. This effort aims to drive economic development through enhanced competitiveness in agriculture.
