Sheikh Mansoor Applauds Dubai's Sports Sector Growth And Visionary Support
Dubai's sports sector has witnessed significant growth, a development attributed to the government's strong support and visionary leadership, according to H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council. The sector's expansion is also credited to a supportive legislative framework, high living standards, and an increasing interest in sports among the population. This growth is evident in the rising number of sports-related enterprises and the growing participation in various sporting events.
Sheikh Mansoor highlighted the effective collaboration between the council and private sector entities, which has led to over 2.731 million participants engaging in sports events. Furthermore, the number of athletes participating in Dubai clubs has surged to over 5,000. Dubai's capability to host world-class sports tournaments and events has not only attracted international talent but also spotlighted the city on the global sports map, with 106 international tournaments out of 480 events organized this season.
The council's efforts in developing qualified and specialized personnel within sports centers and clubs have been noteworthy. This includes training programs for inmates, enabling them to acquire necessary qualifications for various roles in the sports sector. Sheikh Mansoor urged clubs to focus on identifying and supporting talented individuals, enhancing their administrative systems, and aiming for superior performance levels.
Recent victories by Shabab Al Ahli Club and Al Ain Sports Club in football competitions were acknowledged, underscoring the competitive spirit within Dubai's sports community. Sheikh Mansoor reiterated that development within the sports sector is a continuous journey and emphasized the council's dedication to supporting athletes and providing them with opportunities to excel.
The meeting also shed light on the activities of the Hamdan Sports Complex and previewed upcoming sporting events that are set to energize the local sports scene. These include the ongoing Gulf Youth Games, the Dubai Esports and Games Festival, and the traditional Al Gaffal Dhow Sailing Race. Additionally, spectators can look forward to the Asian U-20 Athletics Championships, the Dubai Pro Bodybuilding Championship, the DXB Snow Run 2024, and Dubai Sports World.
