Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Opens Inaugural Global Healthcare Week

H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, recently inaugurated the inaugural Abu Dhabi Global Healthcare Week (ADGHW). This significant event, held under the theme ‘Accelerating the Future of Global Healthcare’, is taking place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) and will run until 15th May. The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi is the organizing body behind this pivotal healthcare gathering.

During his visit, Sheikh Khaled explored various exhibits, gaining insights into the latest healthcare technologies and advancements in medical science presented by participating healthcare institutions and companies. The exhibition is a hub for innovation, attracting 5,000 participants, including 1,000 delegates from around the globe, 100 exhibitors, and over 250 expert speakers. These experts are set to share their knowledge on a range of topics, from disease diagnostic systems and pharmaceutical manufacturing projects to genomics and research on hereditary diseases.

The Crown Prince underscored the UAE's dedication to advancing healthcare through innovative initiatives and projects. These efforts are in line with the leadership’s vision to enhance healthcare services by promoting research in medical and therapeutic fields and investing in healthcare infrastructure. Such investments aim to improve community health and quality of life significantly.

Sheikh Khaled also emphasized that hosting ADGHW underscores Abu Dhabi’s commitment to fostering research and development in healthcare and life sciences. This is achieved through strengthening cooperation and strategic partnerships between the public and private sectors. The ultimate goal is to transition towards a preventive healthcare ecosystem that leverages advanced innovations, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s status as a premier global healthcare destination.

The event serves as a crucial platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange about future healthcare needs and proactive, preventive healthcare approaches. It aims to foster collaborative efforts towards developing sustainable and innovative healthcare ecosystems that can adapt to evolving needs.

One of the highlights of ADGHW is the Healthcare Leaders Forum, which welcomed around 200 VIPs on its first day. Attendees include ministers, public officials, CEOs, international investors, heads of multilateral organisations, and leading health and medicine experts. The forum focuses on addressing current global healthcare challenges, with outcomes expected to guide future strategic healthcare planning.

The three-day Future Health Summit is another key feature of ADGHW, offering panel sessions and live discussions on critical healthcare themes such as AI in medical research, human longevity research, genomics, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals.

Accompanying Sheikh Khaled were notable figures including H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs; Abdullah bin Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, Minister of Justice; Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade; Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development; Sara Awadh Musallam, Chairwoman of Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge; Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development; Mansoor Ibrahim Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi; Ahmed Tamim Al Kuttab, Chairman of the Department of Government Enablement; and Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
