Sheikh Khaled Marks Two Decades Of Formula 1 At Bahrain Grand Prix 2024

His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, graced the final day of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2024, a significant event that unfolded from February 29 to March 2. This year's race was particularly momentous as it celebrated the 20th anniversary of Formula One races in Bahrain, encapsulated under the theme ‘20 Years of Making History’. The occasion was also marked by the presence of distinguished guests including His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, and other prominent figures from the ruling family and senior officials.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi expressed his admiration for the organizers of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix. He highlighted Bahrain's exceptional capabilities in hosting major international sporting events and its significant position in enhancing global sports tourism. The Bahrain International Circuit, known for its five unique tracks and being the longest in Formula One with a length of 5.412 kilometres, played host to this grand event. It attracted around 100,000 spectators over the weekend, with its main grandstand holding a capacity for more than 10,000 attendees.

20 Years of F1 Celebrated in Bahrain

Since its inception in 2004 as the first Formula One Grand Prix in the Middle East, the Bahrain International Circuit has not only been a pivotal venue for racing but also hosts over 400 events annually. This positions it as a central hub for motorsport promotion within the Kingdom and across the region. His Highness Sheikh Khaled's visit was accompanied by notable figures including Sheikh Mohamed bin Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Zayed bin Nahyan bin Saif Al Nahyan; Sheikh Tahnoon bin Mohammed bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan; Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development; Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council; Fahad Mohammed Salem bin Kardous Al Ameri, UAE Ambassador to Bahrain; alongside numerous senior officials.
