Sheikh Hamdan Explores Future-Ready Innovations at World Governments Summit 2024

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, recently graced the Edge of Government platform at the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2024, which wrapped up its activities in Dubai. The platform, managed by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation and themed "Shifting Perspectives", was a showcase for 13 innovative projects aimed at encouraging a novel approach to solving pressing global challenges. This initiative seeks to highlight and share government innovations worldwide, providing a glimpse into the future of governance through innovative tools.

The Edge of Government platform not only serves as an inspiration but also as a hub for knowledge exchange among nations. It spotlighted two projects that clinched the 6th Edge of Government Award, unveiled on the summit's second day. The awards went to Türkiye for its RoboRoyale ecosystem support project and to Spain for its Life Work Balance initiative. Other notable contributions came from countries including Canada, Guatemala, China, the USA, Kenya, the UK, Finland, Australia, India, France, Rwanda, and Türkiye itself.

Sheikh Hamdan's visit was marked by the company of notable figures such as Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications and Vice-Chair of the World Government Summit; Abdulla Al Basti, Secretary-General of the Executive Council of Dubai; and Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police. Their presence underscored the importance placed on innovation and forward-thinking in governance.

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation took this opportunity to launch the 6th edition of the Edge of Government Award. This initiative is pivotal in introducing participants and visitors to groundbreaking solutions and initiatives developed by governments around the globe. It emphasizes the significance of innovation in addressing contemporary challenges and enhancing government services for a better future.

The Edge of Government platform at WGS 2024 has once again highlighted Dubai's commitment to fostering innovation in governance. By showcasing these pioneering projects and facilitating international collaboration, Dubai continues to position itself as a leader in government innovation and a catalyst for global change.
