Sheikh Hamdan Explores Future Of Autonomous Vehicles At Abu Dhabi Mobility Week
At the heart of Abu Dhabi's innovative drive towards smart and autonomous vehicle technology, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan graced the inaugural Abu Dhabi Mobility Week held at Yas Marina Circuit. This event marks a significant milestone in the UAE's journey towards becoming a hub for future industries, particularly in the smart mobility sector.
During his visit, Sheikh Hamdan explored the DRIFTx exhibition, a showcase of the latest advancements in autonomous vehicle technology. He engaged with both local and international exhibitors, delving into discussions about new technologies and solutions that are shaping the future of transportation.
The visit also included strategic meetings with some of Abu Dhabi’s key partners at the Smart and Autonomous Vehicles Industry (SAVI) cluster in Masdar City. These discussions aimed at fostering partnerships to fuel the growth of the smart and autonomous vehicles sector, highlighting Sheikh Hamdan's commitment to advancing this industry.
A highlight of Sheikh Hamdan's tour was his review of the preparations for the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League (A2RL), set to occur on 27 April at Yas Marina Circuit. This event is a cornerstone of the Abu Dhabi Mobility Week, showcasing the potential of autonomous racing technology.
Furthermore, Sheikh Hamdan met with young UAE school students participating in A2RL’s STEM Race. This competition will feature students from 18 schools demonstrating their coding skills on 1:8 scale models of autonomous cars. His Highness praised the students for their technical skills and creativity, underscoring the UAE leadership’s dedication to nurturing young talent as a fundamental aspect of building a sustainable future for Abu Dhabi's industries.
Accompanying Sheikh Hamdan were Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, and Ahmed Jasem Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Department of Economic Development. Their presence underscores the significant support from various sectors towards achieving Abu Dhabi's vision for a smart mobility future.
The Abu Dhabi Mobility Week has successfully convened global industry leaders, manufacturers, and operators to discuss and shape the future of transportation and smart city technologies. The week-long event encompasses not just DRIFTx and A2RL but also Mobility LIVE ME, alongside various research, development activities, and community events.
