The Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit took place in the Egyptian resort city, with participation from the UAE and various global leaders. Representing UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan led the UAE delegation. The summit was co-chaired by Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and US President Donald Trump.
The summit's primary goal was to strengthen the ceasefire and promote peace, security, and stability in the Middle East. It also aimed to initiate a comprehensive political process for rebuilding Gaza and improving humanitarian conditions there. This initiative seeks to end Palestinian suffering and achieve lasting security in the region.

During the opening session, leaders including Egyptian President El-Sisi, US President Trump, Turkish President Erdoğan, and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani signed a ceasefire agreement for the Gaza Strip. This event marked a significant step towards peace in the region.
President El-Sisi expressed optimism in his keynote speech at the summit. He stated that this gathering represents a hopeful beginning for peace and stability in the Middle East. He emphasised that it offers a brighter future for those affected by conflict.
Addressing President Trump, El-Sisi praised his leadership, stating: "You have demonstrated that true leadership is measured not by the initiation of wars, but rather the capacity to conclude them." He expressed confidence in Trump's ability to implement the agreement effectively.
El-Sisi extended gratitude to partners from the United States, Qatar, and Türkiye for their support. He reiterated Egypt's commitment to implementing this plan, which aims to realise the "Two-State Solution" as a path to fulfilling Palestinian and Israeli aspirations for peace.
Future Plans for Reconstruction
The Egyptian President announced plans to host a "Conference for Early Recovery, Reconstruction, and Development." This conference will build on efforts to end the Gaza conflict by providing essential livelihoods for Palestinians and restoring hope through reconstruction.
El-Sisi highlighted that true peace involves rebuilding after destruction. He stressed that Palestinians have an inherent right to self-determination and should envision a future free from war's shadow. They deserve freedom within an independent state alongside Israel.
Acknowledging Leadership Efforts
In recognition of Trump's efforts to end the Gaza conflict, El-Sisi declared Egypt's decision to award him with the "Order of the Nile." This prestigious decoration is given to Heads of State who provide monumental service to humanity.
This summit marks a pivotal moment in fostering cooperation among international leaders. It aims to bring about sustainable peace and development in a region long affected by conflict. The collective efforts seek not only immediate ceasefire implementation but also long-term solutions for regional stability.
