Sharjah Ruler: Football Stadiums On Top Of The Mountains In Khorfakkan And Kalba
His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has extended his commendations to Sharjah's football clubs for their performances in the ADN Pro League for the 2023–2024 season. In a gesture that underscores his commitment to sports and cultural development, His Highness has pledged significant infrastructure upgrades, including the provision of new stadiums for Kalba Club and Khorfakkan Club, situated at elevations designed to enhance athletic performance.
The conversation, aired on Sharjah Radio and TV's "Direct Line" programme, highlighted the success of local clubs and the upcoming rewards for their achievements. His Highness's vision for these clubs goes beyond mere physical infrastructure, emphasizing the importance of each club's emblem in representing their respective cities' identities and heritage.

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan detailed the support for Kalba Club, including the construction of a stadium at an elevation of 850 feet above sea level, which promises cooler temperatures and humidity-free conditions. For Khorfakkan Club, a new stadium at 900 feet elevation will provide similar benefits. These initiatives aim to boost the clubs' performances by creating an optimal environment for athletes.
The conversation also touched upon the cultural and scientific contributions of Sharjah to the broader region. His Highness introduced the "Sharjah Scientific Complex," a project dedicated to housing 10,000 books across various disciplines. This facility, aimed at preserving and showcasing history, arts, and sciences, will provide an innovative space for learning and exploration.
His Highness's efforts in cultural preservation were further highlighted through the example of TV station 'Al Wousta from Al Dhaid', which is committed to covering the heritage, music, and customs of the Bedouin culture. This emphasis on local dialect and culture is a testament to Sharjah's dedication to its heritage.
The Sharjah Scientific Complex stands as a unique testament to His Highness’s passion for knowledge and education. Following a tragic fire at the Egyptian Scientific Institute in Cairo in 2011, His Highness personally contributed 10,000 volumes to help replenish the lost resources, showcasing his commitment to the recovery and empowerment of the scientific community.
