Sharjah Ruler Establishes Al Dhaid University With A Focus On Agriculture And Environment

Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammed Al Qasimi, the esteemed Ruler of Sharjah, has officially signed a decree for the establishment of the University of Al Dhaid. This new institution is set to be a non-profit entity with a focus on agriculture, environment, food, and livestock, marking a strategic move towards enhancing the region's educational offerings in these critical areas. The University of Al Dhaid is poised to commence registration and admission processes for both male and female students in the academic year 2024-2025.
Under the leadership of Sheikh Dr. Sultan, who will serve as the president of the university, this initiative is not just about academic education but also about practical learning experiences. The university will boast an array of facilities and projects such as wheat farms, vegetable farms, dairy farms, and seed banks to support its scientific mission. The governance and administrative structure of the University of Al Dhaid has been carefully planned, with a law soon to be issued that will outline its colleges, departments, administration, and affairs. Dr. Aisha Ahmed Mohammed Abu Shlaibi has been appointed as the Chancellor of the University, bringing her expertise to the forefront of this ambitious project. Additionally, Dr. Melissa Fitzgerald will take on the role of Dean of the College of Agriculture.
