Sharjah Theatre Days Concludes With Awards Celebrating Theatrical Talent

On Saturday, H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, graced the closing ceremony of the 33rd Sharjah Theatre Days at the Cultural Palace in Sharjah. The event marked a significant moment in the region's cultural calendar, celebrating the vibrancy and diversity of theatrical talent.

The ceremony commenced with a report from Hazza Al Barari, the Chairman of the Jury Committee. Al Barari extended his gratitude to H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan for his unwavering support of theatrical endeavors in Sharjah and the broader Arab world. This support has notably fostered the growth of the theatrical movement. The jury's report highlighted the high artistic value of performances, the notable participation of Emirati women, and the emergence of new talents passionate about theatre.

Sharjah Celebrates Theatrical Excellence

During this prestigious event, awards were presented to outstanding contributors in various categories. The Sharjah National Theatre troupe's "How Do We Forgive Us?" clinched the award for best integrated theatrical performance. Mohammed Al Amiri received accolades for best theatrical direction for the same play, while Ismail Abdullah was honored for best theatrical writing.

In acting categories, Abdullah Masoud and Bodour Mohammed were recognized as best actor in a leading role and best actress in a leading role, respectively. Faisal Musa and Sarah Al Saadi took home awards for their supporting roles, showcasing the depth of talent across participating troupes.

The ceremony also spotlighted emerging talents with Abdullah Al Taweel and Waad Tariq winning awards for promising actor and actress. Technical excellence was acknowledged through awards for best decor, lighting, sound and musical effects, costumes and accessories, and makeup, highlighting the comprehensive effort behind successful theatre productions.

Additionally, Ahmed Al Majid was celebrated as an outstanding Arab theatrical artist for his contribution to a play by the Khorfakkan Arts Theatre troupe. The special jury award was bestowed upon a production by the Sharjah Modern Theatre troupe.

The Sharjah Award for Theatrical Writing also recognized exceptional playwrights with Saudi writer Ahmed Musa Yousef taking first place. Omani writers Osama bin Zayed Al Shaqsi and Osama bin Khamis Al Sulaimi secured second and third places, respectively.

This year's Sharjah Theatre Days not only showcased exceptional talent but also underscored Sharjah's commitment to nurturing cultural expressions through theatre. The event served as a platform for artists to display their creativity and for audiences to engage with compelling narratives reflective of societal themes.
