Sharjah Ruler Approves Dh50 Million Support For Rain-Affected Families

In a generous move to mitigate the hardships faced by families impacted by recent rain and floods in Sharjah, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council and the ruler of Sharjah, has sanctioned exceptional financial support.

This initiative will extend help to 1,806 families, creating a relief fund close to Dh50 million. The gesture underscores the leadership's commitment to ensuring the well-being of its citizens during times of natural calamities.

Sharjah Ruler Allocates Aid for Rain-Affected Families

To address the damages inflicted by the inclement weather, a one-off payment of Dh25,000 is to be disbursed to 1,568 households that have experienced leaks or external harm to their properties. This move is part of a broader strategy to provide timely and effective support to those in dire need. Furthermore, the aid package has been designed to cater to a wide array of situations, with a minimum assistance of Dh50,000 earmarked for 117 cases, reflecting the varying degrees of impact the weather has had on the residents.

In addition to local homeowners, the relief measures also extend to 83 individuals who own properties outside Sharjah but have been adversely affected by the weather conditions. Moreover, 38 homeowners, who had recently acquired their homes this year and were yet to move in when the floods struck, will also receive support. This aspect of the aid package is particularly aimed at those whose new homes were affected, covering damages to furnishings and equipment incurred due to the adverse weather.

Beyond immediate financial aid, the initiative also emphasizes the importance of preventive measures that families can undertake to safeguard their homes against future rain damage. Regular maintenance is advocated to minimize the impact of such natural events. Additionally, the Social Services Department has been tasked with reassessing and categorizing cases that had been previously declined for support. This reassessment, following directives from Sheikh Sultan, will ensure that no affected family is left without aid due to bureaucratic hurdles.
