Sharjah's Ruler Sets Forward SPAA's Strategic Vision for 2024-2029

Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the Sharjah Performing Arts Academy (SPAA), recently presided over a pivotal meeting of the Board of Trustees at the academy's premises in University City, Sharjah. The assembly marked a significant milestone, celebrating the achievements of the academy, including the graduation of its inaugural batch of students.
At the outset, His Highness extended a warm welcome to the Board members, expressing gratitude for their dedication and contributions. The meeting underscored the academy's accomplishments and set forth an ambitious strategic plan for 2024-2029. This roadmap is aimed at securing international accreditations and positioning SPAA alongside leading global artistic institutions in both live and recorded performances.

The strategic plan also emphasizes the importance of providing ample job opportunities for graduates, ensuring they are well-prepared for the labour market. This initiative is expected to enrich the artistic landscape with skilled professionals and competencies. Furthermore, the board ratified SPAA's vision to become a premier centre for all performing arts and productions, offering training and education at the highest standards.
Another highlight of the meeting was the approval of SPAA's budget for the current year. Additionally, Ahmed Mohammed Al Mazmi was appointed as head of the academy’s alumni association. The board also greenlit a Master of Fine Arts programme with specialisations in directing, editing, and acting, further broadening the academy's academic offerings.
A follow-up report on the first batch of SPAA graduates revealed that 85 percent have successfully secured job opportunities, seamlessly transitioning into the labour market. The meeting was attended by notable figures including Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the Sharjah Art Foundation and Deputy Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, alongside other distinguished officials.
This gathering not only celebrated past achievements but also laid down a robust framework for SPAA's future endeavours. With a clear vision and strategic direction, SPAA is set to make significant contributions to the global creative and cultural arts scene, nurturing talent that will shape the future of performing arts.
