Sharjah Ruler Sanctions New Phase In Medical Insurance Plan For Residents
In a significant move to enhance healthcare accessibility for the citizens of Sharjah, His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has officially sanctioned a new segment of the medical treatment insurance plan. This initiative underscores the Sharjah government's commitment to ensuring the well-being and health security of its residents.
The newly approved phase targets Sharjah citizens aged between 50 and 55, extending medical treatment benefits to approximately 5,000 individuals. This initiative, with an allocated annual budget of Dh50 million, is set to be implemented at the University Hospital, one of the leading healthcare facilities in the region. This decision follows a successful prior phase that catered to citizens above the age of 55, benefiting a total of 9,654 individuals by providing them with necessary medical treatments at the same institution.

Looking ahead, Sharjah's healthcare strategy includes plans to further broaden the scope of this health insurance scheme. An upcoming phase will aim to cover citizens aged between 45 and 50, thereby adding around 8,000 beneficiaries to the program. This progressive expansion of healthcare coverage reflects the Sharjah Ruler’s dedication to enhancing the quality of life for all citizens through comprehensive medical care.
The introduction and gradual extension of the medical treatment insurance plan demonstrate a strategic approach to healthcare management within the emirate. This initiative not only ensures that a wider segment of the community has access to quality medical services but also highlights the leadership's foresight in prioritizing the health and welfare of its residents.
