Ithmaar Programme Trainees Gain Insight Into Media Production At CNN Arabic
The Sharjah Press Club (SPC), part of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, recently organised field visits for students in the 6th edition of the "Ithmaar" media training programme. These visits aimed to familiarise students with media content production at CNN Arabic and Arabian Radio Network, offering a live educational experience in the media industry.
Students aged 10-17 learned about various newsroom roles and specialised programmes. They received detailed explanations on preparing news radio and television reports. This hands-on experience allowed them to understand media processes used by prominent national and international institutions, enhancing their skills with real-time insights.

The Ithmaar programme includes theoretical workshops to develop trainees' skills and boost their self-confidence. The field visits are a significant part of this methodology, aiming to discover the professional passion of the trainees and provide them with tools for future success in media.
The primary goal is to prepare a generation capable of navigating rapid developments in media. Students expressed great enthusiasm during these visits, which opened new learning horizons. They appreciated the programme's role in building critical thinking, analytical skills, effective communication, and clear idea conveyance.
The sixth edition of Ithmaar features training workshops by top experts from leading media and government organisations like CNN Arabic Network, Arabian Radio Network, Sharjah Police General Command, Sharjah Government Media Bureau, independent senior professionals, and successful former graduates.
Comprehensive Training Modules
The programme covers various aspects of media professions such as artificial intelligence journalism, producing media content, simulating newsrooms, newspaper production and publication. It also includes public speaking skills, body language basics, communication skills, dealing with public figures, design methods, and visual creativity.
Additionally, Ithmaar offers workshops on security media for children and public speaking art. These include audio recording techniques like podcast creation and photography skills. This comprehensive approach ensures that trainees receive well-rounded education in different facets of media.
The SPC’s initiative supports the country’s media sector by empowering children and young people to play an effective societal role. The Ithmaar programme is part of a series of initiatives aimed at achieving this objective through innovative educational experiences.
By participating in these activities, students gain practical knowledge that complements their theoretical learning. This blend of experiences helps them understand the intricacies of the media industry better and prepares them for future challenges.
Overall, the Ithmaar programme aims to create an aware generation equipped with necessary skills for success in the evolving field of media. The combination of field visits and expert-led workshops provides a robust foundation for aspiring young media professionals.
