Sharjah Police Handle 58,593 Calls During Eid Al Fitr Holiday
The Sharjah Police General Command's Central Operations Room reported handling a substantial volume of calls during the Eid Al Fitr holiday, showcasing their readiness and efficiency. A remarkable total of 58,593 calls were received, with the majority, 50,498, directed to the emergency hotline 999. The remaining 8,095 calls were made to the 901 number, designated for non-emergency situations.
Colonel Dr. Jassim bin Hadda Al Suwaidi highlighted the operations room's preparedness from the onset of the holiday period. By coordinating closely with other operations rooms across the central and eastern regions, they ensured a professional response to all inquiries. This concerted effort fell in line with strategic goals to enhance response times and service quality.
Despite the high volume of emergency inquiries, there was a noted impact on the room's ability to promptly address urgent cases due to calls to 999 for non-emergency information. Colonel Al Suwaidi emphasized the importance of the public using the 901 number for such needs. This line operates around the clock, offering information, taking non-emergency comments, and handling reports, thus freeing up the 999 line for critical emergencies.
The Sharjah Police urge the community to use these services wisely, ensuring that each call is directed appropriately to provide efficient and effective responses. By understanding the specific function of each hotline, residents can contribute to a smoother operation, aiding the police in meeting the community's needs promptly and accurately.
