Sharjah Police Academy Board Meeting Led By Crown Prince Discusses Education And Cybersecurity Initiatives

H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, led a meeting at the Sharjah Police Academy in University City. The agenda included enhancing ties with local universities and advancing cybersecurity through technical integration. The academy aims to improve performance by leveraging university expertise.

The board discussed incorporating the metaverse into training and education. They also examined strategies for attracting talent in specialised roles within the Sharjah Police General Command and the academy. A governance framework is being developed to ensure skilled individuals are available to meet strategic goals and competitiveness indicators.

The board praised the academy's scientific achievements, particularly its international accreditations for various study and training programmes. The recognition of certificates awarded by the academy was also highlighted, demonstrating a commitment to international educational standards set by global accrediting bodies.

During the meeting, achievements of the Competency Development Department for 2024 were showcased. This department manages training for Sharjah Police and Academy members, implementing specialised programmes. It received professional accreditation from the National Qualifications Centre and recognition as an accredited training centre by the Sharjah Private Education Authority.

The academy earned international accreditation in medical services and first aid from several organisations. An initiative was launched to train 900 teachers from the Sharjah Private Education Authority in first aid. Additionally, 207 training programmes benefited 4,644 employees across 21 government entities.

The board approved graduation dates for PhD and Master's students on November 27th. Academic promotions for faculty members meeting UAE Ministry of Higher Education criteria were endorsed. A proposed amendment to align academy regulations with sector advancements was reviewed.

Educational Engagements

The board approved a request from Dubai's General Directorate of Civil Defence to reserve study seats in the Bachelor's programme in Police Sciences. Statistics showed increased enrolment in Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD programmes, reflecting high-quality study offerings and accredited qualifications in police and legal specialisations.

The meeting reviewed participation in the 43rd Sharjah International Book Fair, where modern publications on police sciences, law, administration, AI, cybersecurity, psychology, and related impacts were showcased.
