Sharjah Museums Authority Debuts Online Ticketing Service Before Eid Al Fitr
The Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) has taken a significant step forward in enhancing the cultural and visitor experience within the emirate by launching a new online ticketing service. This initiative, accessible through its official website, aims to simplify the process of exploring Sharjah's diverse museum offerings, making it more convenient for both local residents and international visitors.
By introducing this online service, SMA is keen on deepening engagement with the emirate's rich historical and cultural heritage. This move is in line with Sharjah's ambition to establish itself as a leading cultural destination, known as 'Sharjah, the source of culture.' The service is expected to increase both local and international interest, further cementing Sharjah's position as an ideal place for life, leisure, and business investment.
The online ticketing feature is particularly beneficial during peak visiting times, such as holidays and celebrations like Eid Al Fitr. It allows for the purchase of tickets remotely, eliminating the need to queue at ticket counters, thereby saving visitors' time and enhancing their overall experience.
SMA's commitment to improving accessibility and satisfaction is evident through this initiative. It aims to provide a more efficient and user-friendly experience for all visitors, including those with disabilities and senior citizens. Notably, seniors are allowed to bring one companion who can enter SMA's museums free of charge, reflecting the UAE's values of respect and appreciation for the elderly.
This digital advancement aligns with global trends towards digitalisation and smart service integration. Visitors to Sharjah's 16 museums will discover a wealth of information covering various captivating topics such as Islamic arts and culture, archaeology, heritage, science, and the aquatic world. These museums act as portals to the rich history of Sharjah and the UAE.
Among the key cultural landmarks managed by SMA are Bait Al Naboodah, Al Mahatta Museum, Sharjah Fort (Al Hisn), Hisn Khor Fakkan, Sharjah Archaeology Museum, Sharjah Aquarium, Sharjah Art Museum, and Sharjah Calligraphy Museum. Each venue plays a crucial role in narrating Sharjah’s vibrant historical narrative.
Visitors can also explore a variety of fascinating temporary exhibitions across these museums. Current exhibitions include "Ziena Splendor of The Indian Courts" at the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization running until 15th April 2024; "Art of Architectural Ornamentations in the emirate of Sharjah" at Bait Al Naboodah until 17th August 2024; and "Reflections and Inspirations from Emirati Heritage" at Sharjah Heritage Museum until 15th April 2025.
The online ticketing service is now operational and can be accessed at https://www.sharjahmuseums.ae/. This development not only facilitates easier access to Sharjah’s museums but also showcases SMA’s dedication to leveraging technology to serve its community better.
