Sharjah Museums Authority Showcases Cultural Innovation And Tourism At Arabian Travel Market 2025

The Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) is actively participating in the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025. This event highlights Sharjah's emergence as a key cultural tourism hub. The SMA is showcasing its museums' roles in promoting arts, education, and innovation both regionally and globally.

During ATM 2025, SMA unveiled a special exhibition titled "A Journey Through Time." This exhibition invites attendees to delve into the rich history of travel and trade. It celebrates Sharjah’s historical role as a bridge connecting various civilisations across different eras and cultures.

Cultural Innovation at Arabian Travel Market 2025

The exhibition features a replica collection of valuable artefacts from Sharjah Museums’ diverse holdings. Notable items include a rare facsimile of an Ottoman Qur’an manuscript by calligrapher Ahmad Qara Hisari, a seascape painting of Khorfakkan by Emirati artist Abdulqader Al Rais, a traditional astrolabe, pearl diving tools, and gold horse bridle ornaments from Mleiha.

SMA has also introduced its network of 16 museums located across Sharjah city, Khorfakkan, and Kalba. These museums cover subjects like Islamic arts and culture, archaeology, heritage, sciences, and marine life. Special focus is on the newly opened Museum of Education at "Al Qasimia School," enriching the Authority’s offerings with educational history.

In line with its strategy to enhance visitor experiences through technology, SMA launched a new mobile application at ATM 2025. This app serves as a digital gateway for exploring the Authority’s museums. Users can access collections, exhibitions, events, book tickets in advance, and plan visits efficiently.

SMA is committed to promoting inclusive learning experiences by making museums accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. Visitors can explore SMA’s dynamic annual programme of exhibitions, interactive workshops, and community initiatives that reflect this commitment.

Interactive Visitor Engagement

As part of its efforts to engage visitors interactively, SMA distributed specially designed interactive boxes at ATM 2025. These boxes contain self-guided workshops that offer hands-on experiences similar to those held regularly at Sharjah’s museums. They aim to deepen visitors' connections to history, art, and culture.

Crowning its participation in ATM 2025, SMA announced free entry to all its museums on May 18 for International Museum Day. This initiative aligns with the Authority’s vision of making museums vibrant spaces where knowledge and creativity thrive.

Visitors can easily access these museums by booking their free tickets online through the official Sharjah Museums Authority website. This accessibility supports community interaction within these welcoming spaces.
