Sharjah Media Council And Sharjah Ports Sign MoU To Enhance Media And Cultural Logistics
Sharjah is enhancing its global cultural and media presence through a strategic partnership. The Sharjah Media Council (SMC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority. This agreement aims to improve coordination and streamline operations, supporting the emirate's cultural and media sectors while simplifying logistics for media institutions and event organisers.
The MoU focuses on easing customs and logistics for international media teams during major events in Sharjah. It ensures smooth entry of media equipment through official channels, facilitating efficient coverage of global events. This initiative also improves access to printed materials for book fairs and exhibitions, boosting Sharjah's appeal for international festivals.

Both organisations are committed to creating a supportive environment for media and creative industries. This partnership enhances Sharjah's reputation as a leader in culture and communication. Hassan Yaqoub Al Mansouri, Secretary-General of the SMC, highlighted that the MoU aligns with directives from His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi to support media growth.
Al Mansouri stated, "Our partnership with the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority is vital in supporting the emirate's media and cultural scene. Streamlining the entry of media materials and equipment is not just a logistical matter, it is an investment in the quality and integrity of responsible media content."
Mohammed Mir Abdul Rahman Al Sarrah, Director of Ports and Customs at Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, emphasised that this agreement exemplifies effective government cooperation. It reflects their commitment to supporting creative industries, particularly in media and culture.
The MoU aligns with His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi’s vision prioritising culture in Sharjah’s sustainable development strategy.
