Sharjah Literature Festival Showcases Unique Artistic And Cultural Experiences Until January 21

The Sharjah Literature Festival is currently captivating audiences with its blend of literature and arts. Running until 21st January, the festival offers a variety of cultural events that engage people from across the Emirates. This event highlights Sharjah's role as a cultural hub, merging tradition with modernity through unique artistic experiences and a book fair.

In the square opposite University City Hall, the festival celebrates literature with rich dialogues and exclusive meetings featuring writers, poets, and thinkers. Musical performances by qanun, oud, saxophone, piano, and flute enhance the atmosphere, providing visitors with an enchanting experience. The festival continues to inspire creativity and communication between generations.

Over recent days, the festival has hosted numerous engaging sessions. One such session was "Imagination Nation: Emirati Children's Literature and the Future Makers," where writers Badriya Al Shamsi and Fatima Al Mazrouei discussed the significance of children's literature in fostering national values. Another session titled "Pages of Wonder: Children’s Books as an Educational Tool" featured Dr Nadia Al Najjar and writer Fatima Al Amri exploring educational roles of children’s books.

The festival also launched "UAE Through Arab Eyes: Book Launch," which examined Arab thinkers' perspectives on UAE's development. In "Treasures of the Gulf: Stories of Land and Sea," Dr Abdulaziz Al Musallam shared stories about UAE's rich history. These sessions highlight the diverse themes explored during the festival.

Another notable session was "Paths of Life: Exploring the World of Autobiographies," where Dr Ibrahim Galadari discussed his book "Memoirs of an Emirati Doctor." This inspiring autobiography showcases personal journeys within Emirati society. Additionally, Hamad Bin Sarai and Dr Saif Al Bedwawi reviewed UAE's historical formation in "Footprints of History: Rediscovering Emirati Eras."

The session "Personal Imprints: Timeless Melodies" highlighted composer Ibrahim Jumaa's contributions to Emirati art. These discussions provide insights into personal stories and historical narratives that shape UAE's cultural landscape.

Creative Workshops for All Ages

The festival offers vibrant workshops for children, adolescents, and youth. Highlights include Arabic calligraphy in jewellery design workshops, "Storytelling by Nayrooz" sessions exploring creative tales, and "Under the Stars" workshops blending astronomy with Emirati culture led by Moza Al Marzooqi and Omran Al Shamsi.

Other workshops include "Square Kufic" by designer Alya Duaifes and pottery workshops by "Clay Calm," allowing participants to decorate pottery cups with Arabic phrases. Adults and children can also join musk and candle-making workshops to enhance their reading experiences with unique scents.

This year's Sharjah Literature Festival continues to offer enriching experiences through its diverse programme. By bridging generations through art and literature, it fosters a deeper appreciation for culture within Sharjah's community.
