Sharjah Light Festival 2023 Unites Global Artists in a Spectacular Display
The 13th edition of the Sharjah Light Festival is currently underway, illuminating 12 iconic landmarks across the city with breathtaking light installations and performances. Organized by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), this year's festival showcases an array of advanced technologies such as 3D holograms, projection mapping displays, and kinetic live installations. The event has drawn more than 15 international artists from eight different nationalities, all collaborating to highlight the intricate beauty of Arab and Islamic architecture.
The festival kicked off with an opening ceremony at the Sharjah Police Headquarters, where attendees were treated to "Luminous Guardians," a captivating light installation by artists Steffan Ihmig and Fredrico Petrei. Other standout installations include "A Sublime Canvas" by Uladzimir Kivachuk at the Sharjah Mosque and "Enchanted Dimensions" by Amin Sammakieh at Al Noor Mosque, among others. Each piece uniquely celebrates the architectural heritage and cultural richness of Sharjah, aiming to draw both locals and visitors to the city.

Diverse landmarks serve as backdrops for various installations. Al Dhaid Fort features "Echoes of Al Dhaid" by Stefan Ihming, while Kalba Waterfront is illuminated by "Elemental Reflections" by Romain Tardy. BEEAH Group HQ presents "Reflecting on the Circle of Life" by John Tettenborn, and the General Souk in Al Hamriyah hosts "The Past Meets the Future" by Mounir Harbaoui and Dmitri Chistakov. Additionally, "The Jewel of Rafisah Dam" and "The Swan Show" at Al Rafisah Dam, along with "Waves of Reflection" at Al Majaz Waterfront and "Radiant Illuminations" at Khalid Lagoon by AlSayegh, are among other festival highlights.
The Light Village, positioned in front of the University City Hall building, offers festival-goers a chance to explore a variety of food and beverage options and retail vendors. This area also features stunning light installations and immersive experiences, adding another layer of engagement to the festival.
