Sharjah Ruler Approves UAE's First Of Its Kind Aquaculture Project In Khorfakkan

His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has approved the establishment of an "Aquaculture Farm" in Khorfakkan. This initiative marks a significant milestone as the first aquaculture venture of its kind in the UAE. Developed in collaboration with the University of Khorfakkan, particularly its College of Marine Sciences and Aquatic Biology, this project sets out to achieve a trio of objectives: educational enhancement, environmental conservation, and the promotion of sustainability.

Ali Ahmed Abu Ghazin, Chairman of the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority, announced the project's approval on the Direct Line programme, broadcasted by the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority. The "Aquaculture Farm" project reflects Sharjah's dedication to pioneering efforts aimed at harnessing the potential of the marine environment while ensuring its protection and sustainable use for future generations.

This groundbreaking initiative not only aims to provide a practical learning environment for students of marine sciences but also sets a precedent for similar sustainable projects in the UAE and beyond. By integrating academic research with environmental stewardship, the Aquaculture Farm in Khorfakkan is poised to contribute significantly to our understanding and preservation of marine ecosystems.
