Sharjah International Award For Cultural Heritage Begins Its Sixth Edition With Global Participation
The Sharjah International Award for Cultural Heritage (SIACH) has commenced its sixth cycle. This announcement was made during a press conference at the International Cultural Heritage Organisations Centre Theatre. The event saw attendance from Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, alongside board members and cultural heritage experts.
Dr. Al Musallam highlighted that the award embodies His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi's vision. It serves as a bridge for civilisational dialogue and an international platform to preserve both tangible and intangible heritage. He noted that the award recognises those who contribute to heritage preservation for future generations.

Sharjah views heritage as a developmental effort that strengthens identity and enhances cultural understanding among future generations. The award has evolved beyond mere celebration, becoming a platform to showcase exceptional experiences that revive collective memories globally. This approach gives significant attention to outstanding contributions in heritage conservation.
Aisha Al Hossan Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of SIACH, mentioned that the award has become an influential international platform. It promotes cultural heritage values in community awareness and academic research. The award attracts diverse participants who present unique experiences reflecting legacy traditions' adaptability to modern expression.
Dr. Al Musallam emphasised the importance of collaborating with international organisations to protect human heritage from emerging challenges. He announced the opening of submissions for the sixth cycle, inviting various cultural entities to apply through official platforms. This cycle will focus on quality, authenticity, originality, and current relevance.
The increased participation enhances the award's significance by supporting efforts that provide fresh perspectives on revitalising heritage. This expansion helps broaden its domains and strengthens its standing in global cultural discussions.
Strict Criteria and Transparent Process
The board approved several developmental decisions during its recent meeting, including a complete timeline for the sixth cycle. The process begins with submissions, followed by judging, and concludes with announcing winners. Adhering to this schedule ensures impartial reviews, bolstering the award's credibility and leadership internationally.
The stringent criteria aim to ensure submissions align with the award's prominence and global reach. This approach guarantees that noteworthy contributions receive due recognition on an international scale.
The SIACH continues to be a valuable knowledge pillar in recognising narrators, experts, and initiatives contributing effectively to heritage preservation. By engaging with global partners, it unifies efforts in conserving human heritage against rapidly emerging issues.
