Sharjah To Host The 15th Social Work Forum Focused On Community Cohesion In May 2024
The Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) is set to organise its 15th Social Work Conference on 14th–15th May at Al Qasimia University. The theme for this year is "Towards an aware and cohesive society." This event aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, who prioritises social cohesion and public awareness.
The conference aims to present new ideas that strengthen social policies by showcasing successful experiences and practices that support community cohesion. It also seeks to promote social awareness and address societal challenges, while enhancing cooperation among governmental, private, and civil sectors to foster social stability.

Key topics include modern challenges such as poverty, unemployment, domestic violence, and discrimination. The forum will also highlight innovative solutions, policy development for improved quality of life, and the role of media in building social unity. It will explore the future of social services amid advancing technology and artificial intelligence.
Khawla Al Ali, Director of Government Communication at the department, stated that the conference will serve as a platform for leading social work professionals and institutions from across the Gulf region to exchange ideas and strategies for advancing the field. The event will feature six diverse papers and live presentations from institutions engaged in social causes.
The conference will conclude with a set of strategic recommendations based on the sessions and workshops. These will offer actionable proposals to support policy development and reinforce social stability and cohesion. Initiatives to support vulnerable groups and achieve social justice will also be proposed.
