Sharjah's Executive Council Approves Digital Transformation Strategy For 2026–2028 To Enhance Services
H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, led the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) meeting on Tuesday. H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, was also present. The Council extended congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi for declaring Sharjah a Baby and Family Friendly city.
The announcement aligns with the UAE's declaration of 2026 as the Year of the Family. It supports strategic goals aimed at enhancing child and family welfare in Sharjah by fostering a supportive environment across its cities and institutions. This reflects Sharjah's commitment to meeting high standards through various initiatives.
Sharjah has implemented policies supporting families through specialised government entities focused on child welfare. The emirate has engaged 686 visitors at family-friendly sites, involved 1,231 parents in nurseries, and employed 1,422 staff in relevant institutions. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to create a nurturing environment for families.
The Baby and Family-Friendly programme includes 91 registered entities such as institutions and nurseries that adhere to global standards. These efforts have earned international recognition like the Sharjah Child-Friendly and Healthy City titles. Events and festivals further enhance this supportive atmosphere for children and families.
The Council approved the Sharjah Digital Transformation Strategy 2026–2028, aiming to digitise government services for seamless customer experiences. This strategy seeks to improve institutional performance and empower government bodies with necessary capabilities for sustainable digital transformation.
The strategy involves over 50 initiatives, including a Digital Cooperation Charter clarifying roles among government entities. It aims to establish secure systems supporting effective operations while enhancing cybersecurity resilience and data privacy.
Real Estate Sector Support
The Council decided to reduce fees for transactions at the Sharjah Real Estate Exhibition "Acres" 2026. Selling fees are set at 0.5% for developers, 1% for UAE and GCC citizens, 2% for freehold purchases by other nationalities, and 1% for usufruct purchases by other nationalities.
This decision underscores Sharjah’s dedication to boosting the real estate sector by stimulating market activity and attracting investment from developers and investors alike.
Organisational Developments
The Council approved the general organisational structure of the Emiri Guard to support its operations and specialised functions. This approval is part of ongoing efforts to develop organisational frameworks across government entities.
The SEC also discussed several agenda items concerning government departments' performance, plans to enhance services, and advancing digital transformation in line with Sharjah’s vision for sustainable development across all sectors.
The establishment of the Higher Committee for Digital Integration will ensure comprehensive governance over digital projects. It will coordinate among institutions to accelerate technological integration while improving service efficiency.
