Sharjah Digital Hackathon Launches At GITEX Global 2025 To Foster Innovation In AI Applications
Sharjah is advancing its digital leadership by hosting the Sharjah Digital Hackathon at GITEX Global 2025. This event, from 13th to 16th October 2025, aims to boost government innovation and shape the emirate's digital future. Organised by the Sharjah Digital Department, Rubu’ Qarn Centre for Science and Technology, and Sharjah Youth Council, it focuses on "AI applications for infrastructure development".
The hackathon aligns with the UAE’s 2031 vision and artificial intelligence strategy. It serves as an intensive intellectual and technical marathon. Participants include Rubu' Qarn youth and government employees who will collaborate on innovative solutions in smart infrastructure using modern methodologies like design thinking and open innovation.

Participants will tackle four main themes: smart traffic management to ease congestion, predictive maintenance for facilities, energy efficiency in buildings through smart systems, and interactive digital government services for seamless user experiences. These themes aim to support Sharjah's digital transformation efforts.
A team of mentors and technical experts will guide participants throughout the hackathon. They will assist in idea generation, prototype design, and presenting final solutions before a judging panel. This guidance ensures that participants can effectively develop practical technological solutions.
The event includes interactive sessions on AI tools, successful presentation techniques, and workshops on design thinking and prototyping. These sessions are designed to equip participants with the necessary skills to excel in developing innovative solutions that align with the event's objectives.
The hackathon concludes with an awards ceremony recognising winning teams. Participation certificates will be distributed by representatives of the organising entities. This ceremony celebrates the spirit of innovation and collaboration among Sharjah’s youth.
Ensuring Practical Impact
Winning solutions will be linked to incubation pathways to ensure their continuity and practical impact. This approach supports Sharjah’s ambitions for comprehensive digital integration while enhancing the quality of life within its community.
The event not only highlights Sharjah's commitment to empowering national talent but also underscores its dedication to fostering a sustainable digital future. By motivating participants to build practical technological solutions, the hackathon contributes significantly to shaping the emirate’s digital landscape.
