Sharjah Crown Prince Opens Third Ordinary Session Of The Sharjah Consultative Council On October 9, 2025
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) is set to commence its third ordinary session of the eleventh legislative term. H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi will inaugurate this session on Thursday at the SCC headquarters. This follows the issuance of Emiri Decree No. (59) of 2025, which convenes the SCC for this session on 9th October 2025.
The SCC achieved significant milestones during its second regular session from October 2024 to June 2025. The Council conducted 17 plenary sessions, addressing various laws and public policies. These efforts aimed to enhance the legislative environment in alignment with Sharjah's developmental goals and the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi.

During these sessions, ten draft laws were discussed and approved, covering essential sectors. Additionally, four general topics concerning government departments were deliberated upon. These discussions involved entities like the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, and the Department of Economic Development.
The Council members actively engaged in these discussions by posing 194 direct questions to delve into government policies' intricacies. This reflects their dedication to monitoring how entities implement recommendations made by the Council.
A total of 93 members submitted requests or spoke during sessions, resulting in 205 parliamentary interventions. This engagement was crucial in shaping the Council's directions and formulating final recommendations.
In their oversight role, members raised two parliamentary questions about Emiratisation in the private sector and promotions within Sharjah Police and Security Forces. These discussions led to 25 comprehensive recommendations aimed at supporting development in Sharjah and improving residents' quality of life.
Committee Activities
The Council's committees played a vital role by holding 43 meetings focused on specialised areas such as legislative affairs, economic matters, education, health, and family issues. These committees also conducted 41 field visits to various institutions across Sharjah to gather insights and assess service realities.
The Office Board of the SCC, led by its Speaker and committee heads, held four meetings to coordinate parliamentary activities effectively. This coordination ensured that both legislative agendas and parliamentary work were aligned with strategic goals.
This session marks another step forward for Sharjah's legislative progress under the guidance of its leaders. The SCC continues to play an integral role in shaping policies that align with the emirate's aspirations for growth and development.
