Sharjah Court of Cassation Inaugurates Sessions

The Court of Cassation is Sharjah's highest judicial authority. It sets legal principles, rules on appeals, and issues final judgments. This helps unify legal interpretations and stabilise judicial decisions. Judge Al Mulla praised the support from H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi in integrating Sharjah's justice system.

Under Law No. (7) of 2025, the court is an independent supreme body in Sharjah. It can hold sessions anywhere in the emirate when needed. The court consists of a president, vice president, and judges appointed by Amiri decree. The vice president steps in during the president’s absence.

The court operates through various chambers reviewing appeals according to the law. It plays a crucial role in protecting rights and freedoms by ensuring correct legal application and interpretation to serve justice.

The new judicial authority law advances Sharjah’s institutional framework, focusing on an effective and independent justice system. Judge Al Mulla affirmed that justice is essential for upholding rights, guaranteeing litigation for all, and ensuring equality before the law without discrimination.

Legal Authority

The Court of Cassation handles appeals against judgments from appellate courts eligible for cassation under the law. It resolves jurisdictional disputes between judicial bodies in Sharjah and ensures correct law application.

The law allows the court to hold Executive Council members accountable for actions during official duties after referral by the council or delegate. The court also addresses appeals filed by the Public Prosecutor in public interest cases under Federal Civil Procedures Law.

Judge Al Mulla acknowledged Judge Dr Mohammed Obaid Al Kaabi and all judicial staff for their efforts to protect rights and uphold justice in Sharjah.
