Sharjah Consultative Council Committee Reviews Airport Policy Outcomes To Enhance Future Capacity And Efficiency
The Sharjah Consultative Council's Preparation Committee for Recommendations recently convened at the council's headquarters. The meeting centred on outcomes from the 15th session, which reviewed Sharjah International Airport's policy during the second ordinary term of the 11th legislative chapter. Key themes emerged, including operational efficiency, capacity expansion, and competitiveness enhancement.
Committee members highlighted the importance of increasing Emiratisation within airport roles. Discussions also covered incentives for private-sector companies to adopt pro-Emiratisation policies. This approach aims to align with Sharjah’s broader development goals while supporting local employment opportunities.

Updating the regulatory framework governing the airport authority was another focal point. Strategic proposals were put forward to support Sharjah Airport’s long-term development, anticipating future growth in air traffic. These updates are crucial for maintaining a competitive edge in regional and global markets.
Jassem Mohammed Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Committee, stressed that their methodology is informed by constructive debate both in plenary sessions and among committee members. "The goal is to translate this input into actionable recommendations that align with both legislative goals and Sharjah’s broader development agenda," he stated.
The committee aims to advance Sharjah International Airport’s operational readiness and infrastructure as it expands. This effort seeks to reinforce its role as a strategic hub for the emirate, reflecting His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi's visionary leadership.
Finalising Recommendations
The committee agreed to finalise its recommendation report for presentation at an upcoming Sharjah Consultative Council session. This move is intended to enhance service quality and efficiency at Sharjah International Airport, aligning with future aspirations of the emirate.
The proposed recommendations will focus on improving operational readiness and infrastructure development at the airport. These efforts aim to position it as a key strategic hub regionally and internationally, ensuring alignment with Sharjah's vision for growth.
