Sharjah Children's Reading Festival 2025 To Launch On April 23 With Diverse Activities For Young Readers
The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) has announced that the 16th Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF 2025) will occur from 23rd April to 4th May. The event, hosted at Expo Centre Sharjah, will feature a wide array of children's and young adult literature. Over 12 days, attendees can enjoy interactive activities, theatrical performances, and educational events.
This year's festival will include workshops led by experts aimed at enhancing children's skills and knowledge. These sessions are designed to nurture creativity and intellect among young participants. Authors, illustrators, and publishers specialising in children's literature will engage in discussions, readings, and book signings. This cultural programme aims to foster connections between readers and creators.

The festival will also announce winners of prestigious awards like the Sharjah Children's Book Award and the Sharjah Audio Book Award. These accolades support the children's literature industry by recognising outstanding contributions. Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of SBA, highlighted the emirate's commitment to nurturing a culture of knowledge under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi.
Al Ameri stated that books play a crucial role in shaping a child's imagination and development. He emphasised that knowledge is vital for building future generations capable of envisioning progress. The festival aligns with Sharjah's initiatives promoting reading and intellectual growth as part of its broader cultural vision.
Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi oversees the festival's agenda each year to ensure it meets contemporary needs. This approach provides children with diverse cultural experiences while reinforcing the festival's role in UAE's developmental progress.
Engaging Activities for Young Minds
Khoula Al Mujaini, General Coordinator of SCRF, explained that the festival offers a curated programme catering to children's interests and developmental needs. By blending learning with entertainment, it creates an environment fostering creativity and skill development through writing workshops, theatrical performances, and scientific activities.
Al Mujaini added that SCRF serves as a platform for publishers and authors to connect with audiences. The aim is to deepen engagement with books while stimulating children's imagination and broadening their understanding of the world.
The festival continues to be an integral part of Sharjah's efforts to invest in knowledge and empower future generations through enriching cultural experiences.
