Sharjah Charity International Transforms Lives Of 24 Million People Across 110 Countries With AED 3 Billion Investment

Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Charity International (SCI), shared that SCI has positively impacted 24 million lives in 110 countries over the past decade. This aligns with the vision of wise leadership. He discussed this during his talk titled "A Noble Mark on the World: How Sharjah Charity Transformed 24 Million Lives" at the Regional Data and Community Development Forum on 10th October.

Sheikh Saqr highlighted that SCI has invested AED 3 billion to meet United Nations sustainable development goals (SDG). The first goal is poverty eradication, with AED 1 billion spent to aid 623,054 families in improving their living standards. The second goal focuses on hunger eradication, where SCI has distributed 12,362,353 food baskets globally at a cost of AED 120 billion.

The third objective is promoting good health. SCI has established 66,794 healthcare units worldwide. Dialysis centres in Halwan and Khorfakkan offer free services to all needy patients without discrimination. Education is the fourth goal, benefiting 114,412 students globally with an investment of AED 200 billion.

SCI's fifth goal involves providing clean water by digging wells and other water sources at a cost of AED 260 million, benefiting over nine million people. Building sustainable cities is the sixth goal. UN data has guided SCI in constructing comprehensive housing facilities with schools, hospitals, and mosques, like in an Egyptian village lacking a nearby school.

The seventh goal targets economic growth by helping 15,750 individuals establish small businesses to enhance their quality of life. Sheikh Saqr concluded his presentation with a video showcasing SCI's global efforts, particularly in Africa and Asia. He expressed gratitude to partners supporting SCI's mission and encouraged others to join in charitable efforts.

Sheikh Saqr emphasised that charity inspires growth and empowers communities. He thanked H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi for his motivation and benevolence. "H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan has always insisted that mankind is the objective of our work," he stated.

Data from the Department of Statistics and Community Development (DSCD) supported Sheikh Saqr’s presentation at the forum organised by DSCD. He explained how data aids decision-making and resource allocation for effective philanthropic activities both locally and internationally over the last decade.
