Sharjah Charity Provides Essential Dialysis Sessions To Patients In Need

In a recent report by Sharjah Charity International (SCI), a notable contribution towards kidney failure patients has been documented. The first quarter of this year saw the SCI sponsor 3,826 dialysis sessions, with an investment of AED2.8 million. Specifically, 1,692 of these sessions were facilitated at the SCI's specialised kidney dialysis centre. This centre stands out as the first under a charitable organisation in the UAE to be authorised by the Ministry of Health and Prevention. Additionally, the association supported 2,134 sessions for patients undergoing treatment in various other hospitals.

The timing of this report is significant as it aligns with World Kidney Day on 14th March. Abdullah Sultan bin Khadim, Executive Director of the SCI, underscored the association's dedicated efforts in providing timely and quality medical aid to individuals suffering from kidney failure. The Sharjah Charity Kidney Dialysis Centre, which operates 24/7, was instrumental in conducting 1,692 sessions during this period, highlighting the critical nature of prompt treatment for affected patients.

Bin Khadem further detailed the SCI's commitment to aiding patients from the Eastern Region who are unable to bear the costs of their treatment. The association collaborates with nearby hospitals to finance the necessary treatment sessions. It also extends its support to financially disadvantaged patients seeking treatment elsewhere.

The humanitarian initiatives undertaken by the SCI are part of its strategic vision aimed at offering comprehensive care and support, particularly in emergency situations such as kidney failure cases. Aid Committees are tasked with meticulously evaluating and processing requests for assistance, while partnerships with relevant authorities facilitate cost-effective treatment options for referred patients.

Expressing his gratitude towards the supporters of the kidney dialysis treatment project, Bin Khadem highlighted how their generosity plays a crucial role in mitigating the hardships faced by many patients. He called for continued support to further expand the project, thereby accommodating more patients and enhancing healthcare services for those in dire need.
