Sharjah Chamber And Japan Strengthen Economic Cooperation Through Strategic Discussions

Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), has reiterated the Chamber's dedication to enhancing economic ties with Japan. This commitment involves boosting exports and creating joint investment opportunities. By leveraging existing business networks between the UAE and Japan, the Sharjah Chamber aims to facilitate the exchange of commercial insights and expertise, fostering mutual business ventures between investors from both nations.

The meeting took place at SCCI’s headquarters, where Abdallah Sultan Al Owais met with Jun Imanishi, Consul-General of Japan in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. Attendees included Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al-Awadi, SCCI's Director-General, Fatema Khalifa Al Muqarrab, Director of International Relations at SCCI, and several officials from both sides. The focus was on activating the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Sharjah Chamber and the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), aimed at strengthening trade relations.

Enhancing Economic Ties Between Sharjah and Japan

The discussion explored ways to enhance collaboration in various promising sectors, increase trade volume, and develop communication frameworks between both parties. The meeting also addressed coordinating participation in economic events and trade exhibitions hosted by Sharjah and Japan. This includes facilitating reciprocal visits by businessmen and trade delegations from both countries.

Abdallah Sultan Al Owais praised the strong ties between the UAE and Japan, highlighting the Sharjah Chamber's crucial role in boosting trade and investment connections. He emphasised SCCI’s commitment to providing opportunities for Sharjah’s business community and its Japanese counterpart to explore promising market avenues. The focus is on building partnerships across key sectors such as technology, innovation, and renewable energy.

During the meeting, the Sharjah Chamber invited Japanese representatives to participate in the Middle East Electric Vehicle Show at Expo Centre Sharjah. This invitation recognises Japan's expertise in sustainable transportation. Additionally, the Japanese delegation was encouraged to attend "ExpoCulinaire 2025" at Expo Centre Sharjah. Further invitations were extended for future events like "SteelFab 2025" and the Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show.

An action plan was agreed upon by both sides to strengthen joint participation in trade exhibitions. The Sharjah Chamber introduced its 2025 Expo Centre events calendar to the Japanese delegation as part of this plan.

The meeting underscored a shared vision for enhancing economic cooperation between Sharjah and Japan. Both parties are committed to exploring new opportunities that benefit their respective business communities while fostering sustainable growth across vital sectors.
