Sharjah Chamber Conducts Diplomatic Leadership Programme In Amman For Government Employees

The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) recently conducted a training programme named "Diplomatic Leadership" in Amman, Jordan. This initiative, organised by the Sharjah Training and Development Centre (STDC), aims to enhance the diplomatic skills of government employees. The focus is on improving relationship-building, communication, negotiation abilities, and understanding diplomatic representation principles in both regional and international settings.

Maryam Saif Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General for Support Services Sector at SCCI, highlighted that this programme is part of the Chamber's strategy to invest in national talents. She emphasised its role in equipping participants with practical skills necessary for effective government representation globally. The programme reflects SCCI’s dedication to developing a modern training framework that supports contemporary diplomatic functions.

The training covered various modules such as diplomatic leadership frameworks and effective leadership profiles. It also explored different diplomatic leadership styles and their impact on decision-making processes. A significant portion of the programme was dedicated to advanced communication and negotiation skills, focusing on strategic approaches and practical applications.

Participants engaged in institutional field visits that aligned with the programme's objectives. They visited the Jordanian Ministry of Government Communications where they met Dr. Zaid Al-Nawaiseh, Secretary-General. Dr. Al-Nawaiseh discussed how government communications play a crucial role in enhancing national reputation and strengthening media and diplomatic positioning.

The group also visited the Vocational Training Corporation (VTC) in Jordan. Discussions with Dr. Ahmad Gharaibeh, VTC’s Director-General, provided insights into their professional development model and innovative training framework. The visit included tours of key units like the handicrafts division, training centres, and specialised laboratories.

Amal Abdullah Al Ali, Director of STDC, noted that the "Diplomatic Leadership" programme aligns with global benchmarks for developing young leaders. She explained that it combines theoretical knowledge with practical field applications to ensure participants gain essential competencies for modern leadership roles.

Cultural awareness was another critical aspect addressed during the training sessions. Participants learned about its importance in multi-party negotiations and methods for effective institutional representation internationally while enhancing corporate reputation.

This comprehensive approach underscores SCCI’s commitment to fostering a responsive government training framework that strengthens employees’ capabilities in managing institutional relationships and high-level corporate communication.
