Sharjah Consultative Council Pushes For Tourism Sector Expansion And Marine Attractions
The Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) has put forward a series of recommendations aimed at bolstering the tourism sector in Sharjah, with a particular focus on marine tourism and the need for increased hotel accommodations in the Eastern Region. The council's seventh session, led by Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, underscored the importance of strategic collaboration with the emirate’s ports and relevant authorities to tap into growth opportunities within the sector.
In response to the rising demand from tourists and conference organizers, the SCC has called for an expedited analysis to assess the necessity for additional hotels, especially in Sharjah's Eastern Region. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance the emirate's tourism infrastructure and ensure top-quality services for visitors. Furthermore, the council has advocated for the formulation of laws to regulate the utilization of closed hotels and deserted facilities, aiming to revitalize these spaces for tourism and related activities.
Highlighting Sharjah's commitment to its cultural renaissance, the SCC emphasized the critical role of tourism in showcasing the emirate's attractions and heritage. The council's recommendations also included measures to facilitate tourist activities in rest houses and camps, subject to specific conditions and standards. This move is intended to diversify Sharjah's tourism offerings and provide unique experiences for visitors.
The session concluded with an approval of the proposed recommendations, which are designed to foster prosperity within the tourism sector and equip it to navigate future challenges and developments. The SCC also highlighted the necessity of collaborating with tourism companies and leveraging local talent and expertise in this field.
Expressing gratitude towards all contributors, including the Economic, Industrial, and Financial Affairs Committee of the Council, applicants, and General Secretariat employees, the council acknowledged their valuable input and cooperation in enriching the discussion on tourism development in Sharjah.
